The ark's dimensions and materials detailed in the bible were such that if you followed the instructions and built one, it would not float. Too big and heavy for the volume of water to be displaced by the hull. And that's without even starting on the implausibility of the human race and animal species surviving the genetic suicide of sibling and cousin reproduction, the tens of thousands of species involved even getting to the middle east and back, let alone fitting on the ark and surviving and reproducing successfully. Then there is the abject immorality of killing most of the world's inhabitants, and the chance that if you tell this story to your kids, some of them are going to imagine the screams of the drowning people and be traumatised by it.
