I had to unsubscribe a few in the last few days. One kept on posting daily Bible verses, the other one was posting invitations to his Bible study as his status updates. But there's one in particular, a family member, and all she does is share things from xtian FB pages, and she does this about four or five times a day, and it's always at least three or four things in a row. And it takes up my feed, and it's annoying as hell. But I found this thread, so maybe I have a place to vent. Here's one I just seen on there today, and I think it's in reference to the shootings at that school in Ohio: "Dear God, why do you allow so much violence in our schools?" signed, a concerned student. "Dear concerned student, I'm not allowed in schools" God. It's really sickening that people think this is the reason why kids are killing kids. I've only replied three or four times, when i've seen something i simply couldn't let slide. However, I discovered yesterday that in fact it can be a worthwhile exercise because it turns out that the guy I had been debating on fb actually went to my school, a few years below me, and we ended up reminiscing together about our fundy upbringing. I went to that website on the sign, and it seems like a very spooky place, even the website gave off this weird vibe. It's a load of bs. That sign is supposed to suggest welcoming and inclusion but instead the way they label people reveals their exclusivity. Even though gays might be welcome through the door, there is no way on earth they would ever be allowed to serve on the music team. Or any other ministry in a leadership role. What about the ones who don't care about money or possessions (ie, all the ones I knew personally, if their nice-but-hardly-ostentatious homes and wardrobes were anything to go by)? Creepy all right, on many levels. And I wonder how long a materialistic witch would be welcome if s/he didn't feel like toeing the party line after one or two visits.
