Sunday Morning Heathen Coffee Klatsch

ironically..... I almost reconverted back to Mormonism....... But get this..... this actually deconverted a kid from Mormonism. or most probability cause his eventual conversion... man he was red eyed....

See what happened, I was working at the Esso, and this dude I knew from Mormon, came in, and asked if I was Casey L, . I not remembering him, with out his "Southern Gentleman" attire (He was portly, had a beard, and wore a nice vest with Pocket watch.... (he did a mission in Virgina).. This look actually suits him and his physique. ... Anyhow.... He (the kid), is excited that I might be "Saved"...... He was wearing a tank top, with a nice reddish tan that would eventually brown out nicely. Man young people and their healthy skin, My skin looks all scaly now. oh well. Anyways, he comes back later that night, and tells me that he talked to the Missionaries, that happened to be doing their canvassing.. He was pretty blearly red eyed, and upset. Like those bastard boys really broke this kid's heart.

They told him that he looked like a fag, dressed like that, and that he wasn't being modest in his dress (note Mormons are rich gluttons driving Mercedes, and it's ok for their sons, (higher members), to dress in shorts and typical summer ware. He goes home and dresses, and wears and Iron Maiden shirt, with a Cyborg looking man on it. They tell him that Iron maiden is the Devil's Music. (because it's metal).

Anyways, he tells me he's quiting the church.... Wow. I inadvertedly help someone quit the Mormon (Christian church), while almost joining again or expressing interest in joining again, on a Sunday. Victoria long weekend.... weird....

I forgot to post in here yesterday. Damn.

Yesterday morning I woke up, made some coffee, got on the 'puter and uploaded photos from the first day of our vacation. Soon there were fireworks and church bells pealing, and why not? It was, after all, 6:30am in San Miguel de Allende.

You can read the rest of my Sunday recap, as well as see photos and videos of my trip, at http://trips.tumblr.com

Hey it's memorial weekend, what are you doing?

Since not going to church, my husband admitted that he feels alot more relaxed, we all are.

This morning we watched the gardening shows on tv. I made breakfast sausages and poached eggs, I haven't made them in a long while. Then we went to the garden center. Lowes was so busy. We live near the coast aswell and so there was quite alot of traffic. Anyhow we have a pile of rocks in our back yard left over from another project and I thought I would make use of them some how.

I decided to create a rock garden and so I bought some succulents and other cool looking plants and some ornamental grass to go around the edge of the rock garden. I wanted this agave plant as it will look great in my plan, but it was alot of money just for one plant, so I will have to save up for it.

Memorial day we are going to bbq, but it will be just us. The weather is sunny and hot so we may go down to the beach but I don't know, it might be a bit crazy down there.

This Sunday started as usual: Breakfast around noon, then jump in the car and drive to karate class; then a coffee break and a bit of shopping.

And then things got interesting. First I mixed up some sauce and made a huge batch of spare ribs, then tossed them into the oven to slow-cook for a couple of hours.

While the ribs cooked, I began the process of removing some more of the old flooring from my study on the second floor of the house. The original floor was 3/4" fir strips, in absolutely atrocious condition after a previous owner cut them up while attempting to repair some sagged joists. I've already reinforced one cracked joist and the one next to it, and have been working my way across this 12x12 room, removing old stuff and building a new, level and solid sub-floor out of plywood. It's a big, big project that regularly attracts all eight of my cats to the work area... They play hide-and-seek in the spaces between the joists, at least until I start making noise with power tools.

Before supper I got about a third of the way across the section I was working on. After eating some ribs I came back upstairs and finished the remainder of the section... About 40 square feet, total. Then I hauled all the junk wood downstairs and out to the trash, and have just now returned from a lovely late-night snack of soda and East Indian junk food.

And yes, we still have eight cats and the floorboards are not meowing.

Ahhhh....Sunday morning. Just finished my coffee and think I'll make some fried eggs and toast. It's a bit rainy and cool where I am and I'm looking forward to some quiet reading today. Maybe later I'll take my daughter out for a bike ride and then go and do some errands. All in all it's looking like a fine day indeed!

Meh, it's a day late, but with the time that I once would have wasted in church, I slept late, enjoyed some of the pornographic treasures of the int3rn3ts, then I got my bike ready for a ride. My Universe is generally a pretty happy place when I'm on a bicycle watching the power from my body and legs become visually represented by the world streaking past me in a blur. Heck, even when I went to church, cycling was more of a spiritual experience than religion was! :)

Woke up later than usual... Nearly 12:30. Because I was literally covered with cats, it took me a few more minutes to actually get out of bed.

Grabbed a glass of juice and a quick nibble, then headed out to karate. Today was a review of the material to be covered on the testing next Sunday... Going for green belt.

Coffee at Tim's, then picked up some cat food and a truly scary quantity of soft drinks.

Came home, rounded up some tools and protective gear, and started mucking out the crawlspace under the back of the kitchen. Hauled four large bags of junk and dirt out of there... Ick. Had a nice bubble bath, then a cup of tea.

Played clarinet for nearly an hour (exam coming up in a week and a half!), then had chili for supper. Then I continued working on a sewing project -- A new pair of karate pants, based on an older pair but customized to my waist and legs. Succeeded in installing the crotch gusset and sewing all the major seams, so the hard part is done... Just have to put reinforced cuffs on the leg bottoms and finish the waist, which will probably happen sometime tomorrow.

And finally, we had yet another tea break.

Today's Coffee Klatsch report is brought to you by... My aching muscles. :o

Got up marginally earlier -- Actually before noon -- in order to get to the dojo half an hour early. (Today was testing day, and both Red and I were going for our 6th kyu (green belt) test.) We had a nice, leisurely breakfast and only left about fifteen minutes earlier than usual. However, that was more than enough time to fill out the application forms and hobnob with our fellow nervous classmates.

And, as the Æsir and Vanir are my witnesses, we worked our butts off. Imagine, if you will, two fiftysomething women, punching and kicking as hard as we possibly could, and making the ceiling shake with our kiais. The examining sensei actually told us to take a break in between sections of our test, something that we've never seen before on testing day.

I think we passed, too. :woohoo: My kata felt good, and my roundhouse kicks felt *really* good.

After the test, we picked up some computer parts; had coffee at Tim's; and set up one of my older computers as a Father's Day gift for my dad.

Then we had a junk food run, picking up some potato chips and other munchies. And now I'm here playing scales on my clarinet, because my Grade 4 clarinet exam is on Tuesday morning.

I have only been up a short while. I am happy because my son is staying with us for 2 weeks. I haven't seen him for a year and a half. It has been a busy couple of days. Last night we went down to the boardwalk, I made my way to the beach and the water, I can't go down to that end of town without seeing it. It was evening, so the water was a bit chilly, there were still a couple of brave souls swimming in there. My sons had fun playing in the arcade center, they played the air hockey and other games and displayed all those fun sibling rivalry antics, as brothers so often do. I had a go on the Austin Powers pinball machine. Lol. I haven't played pinball in a long while. I am still crap at it. We all had fun though, we were down there until nearly midnight.

So right now I am just chilling out drinking coffee, I just ate some yummy blueberries, I am looking through the posts here.

I will go out later on. The weather is lovely, a nice breeze is blowing, low humidity, just great.

I forgot to listen to "Says You"...but I spent the day reading in bed (it's a hot muggy day and I had a teriffic sinus headache). I started listening to my local public radio program a few hours ago, though -- classical music and now big band.

Well, I set the alarm for 10 a.m. and tried to get up early so I could get a lot of stuff done.

And then, as I was yawning and nodding off over a cup or (decaf) coffee, my partner suggested that I take a nap rather than play with ladders and power tools in a less-than-alert state. So I lay down on the living room couch and zonked out for a solid two hours.

And then I had a leisurely second breakfast at about 1:30 in the afternoon.

From then until nearly dusk I was out in the garage and back yard, building and installing roof trusses for the cats' gazebo. When I finally called it quits for the day, I had finished building all the trusses and all but one was installed.

Red and I then went out for coffee and a bit of a drive. Upon our return, I made jambalaya for supper; but we decided to wait for dessert. We'll probably head downstairs for late-night tea and apple crisp sometime in the next hour.

I was woken up this morning by the sound of heavy rain and a thunderstorm around 8.00 , it was a good thing really as I had intentions of getting up early to continue painting our walls. So I have just finished vacuuming dust and dog hairs from the walls and area where I am going to paint.

I made a start yesterday painting one wall in our breakfast nook area, it's where our dog's bed is and near our back door, So it gets quite alot of traffic and is looking a bit rough. My husband is away working this weekend and I wanted to surprise him. We have been talking for some time about painting these walls. We have been in this home for almost two years and there are still alot of our walls still in the usual off white colour the builders paint these homes in. We took considerable time in choosing colours and we decided on a pastel green colour called 'sage' to soften the more bolder brighter colours of burnt orange and chocolate brown on the other walls we have already painted in our open plan home.

I must say I am really happy how it looks already. I probably won't have it all finished by the time my husband gets home, but just to have made a start I know my husband is going be happy and really like it.

So I am on break now drinking some coffee, I just ate a juicy peach, I think the fruit is really nice this year. I bought some cherries aswell and they are so sweet.

Well break is over, gotta get back to work.

My partner and I used this wonderful Sabbath day to cut down and section a tree on our property. We will do it agan next weekend. We live on two acres and 75% of it forested with mostly oaks and maples. It is just about impossible to get seasoned wood in the area and when you can find it, it is way overpriced. Last year we decided enough was enough and that our property could easily accommodate our needs indefinitely. This winter we will be burning the trees we felled last summer and this summer’s “crop’ will be for the following winter. We cut our fuel oil ($4.50 a gallon on the last delivery) consumption by over 1/3 last winter by using our wood-burning stove.

My partner looks really butch when felling trees. Woof! Woof! :wicked:

I used this wonderful Sabbath day to catch up on some much-needed sleep. The fact that I wasn't in church this morning didn't cause me to lose a single second of it. Now I am on here with you heathens, dissing Christianity and blaspheming, further condemning myself to hell. Damn you all!

I love this thread!!!

I got back to the house late this morning and cleaned the seven FAT fish I caught in the river this morning. The water was a bit chilly at first, but felt nice after I got in and started getting busy. I caught a total of twelve and kept the biggest. I've had a wonderful morning.

Heading out now to fire up the weedeater and cut the grass. After a nice shower, a cold pitcher of sweet tea awaits my return. Not sure what I'll do this afternoon, but the motorcycle will be involved in some way.

I got a fresh side of Oklahoma beef this month and I have four nice, thick T-bone steaks marinading as we speak. After I get the grill fired up, they will be the focus of this evening's dining experience.

Love the pics, Deva.

Wow deva, those are great! They look so professional.

I'm breaking the sabbath, I'm at work. ugh. Very tired, but happy after a weekend in the archipelago of Stockholm, where we partied and ate crawfish and hung out at the beach, soaking up the last rays.

This was my last chance to let my hair down, my summer officially ends today.

The fall semester starts tomorrow and it's time to study hard, work hard, exercise and eat right (I allow myself anything when I'm on vacation) and act like a responsible adult again. Ugh. I'm a little grumpy. I quite enjoy sleeping in and swimming and cooking wonderful calorie-laden meals and spending my nights talking and relaxing. My comfortable jog is going to have to change into a full-blown run. ugh.

That's my thoughts this Sunday! I'll feel better once the work out endorfines kick in :gmorning:

My partner and I live on two heavily wooded acres of land in New Hampshire. We have an oil burner in the basement for heat but we augment that with a wood-burning stove in the family room. Using wood saves us a bundle of money and the ambiance of the wood burning is an added plus. We have lived here for six years now and every couple of years we have ordered three or four cords of cut and seasoned wood. This year the price of wood went through the roof (if you could get it all) so we decided to become manly men and chop down a few of our own trees and make our own cut and seasoned wood for the following winter (we have enough seasoned wood left over to get us through this winter). The task is going as planned and we felled one big tree and four of five medium sized trees. The wood has been cut into 18” sections and we are just about ready to rent the wood-splitter.

I HATE IT! I NEVER WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!

The last four weekends have been nothing but filthy, back braking, mosquito infested hell! I swear oil will have top $20 per gallon before I ever want to do this again.

Today was a bit unusual in that we started the day with nothing at all scheduled...We're in between karate sessions, no class till next Sunday. So I slept in till nearly one in the afternoon.

After breakfast my partner and I decided to do our own version of a karate class, so we moved the dining room furniture into a corner and practiced for nearly an hour.

Then I went out back and loaded the car full of renovation trash -- Plaster, lath, broken concrete, old baseboards -- and we headed down to the city landfill. (Amazing what you can carry in a Cavalier with a drop-down back seat, BTW.)

On the return trip we stopped to worship some coffee at St. Tim's, then picked up some groceries. And then we did sundry gardening things till it started to get dark.

Ah, Pat Condell; he cracks me up.

It's 10:15 pm, Saturday night were I am right now. In about 12 hours it will be time for me to head off to church. Last week I was asked to pray at the end of Sunday school. I did it, but I felt sick to my stomach afterwards. I just recently deconverted, and only my wife and a few close friends know it. I know I can't keep on going like this, being a pretender at church. I am a complete fake. All I do now is sit there and burn inside myself, knowing that everything they are saying is complete bullshit.

Honestly, I don't know if I can do it tomorrow. My wife is really the only reason I still go. She worries about me, you know, thinking I'm going to hell and such. For now, I guess I'll hang in there. Maybe tomorrow I'll challenge a few of their precious dogmatic doctrines instead of just sitting there and nodding my head.

That's all for now. See you all in hell

Guest John14:6

I'm going to spend the day breaking the Sabbath and cleaning house. Who knows, I might find some other sin to commit while I'm at it. Need anyone coveted or murdered?

[/q]

What is your story? Did you used to be a follower of Christ and decide its not for you?
