Sunday Morning Heathen Coffee Klatsch

Recommended Posts

I woke up around ten. I am drinking a coca cola classic to wake up because I don't drink coffee. I am waiting for my husband to wake up, then we will probably eat lunch because we are never awake for breakfast. After lunch, I plan on experiencing my "church" outside. I will be going for a jog or bike ride around a nearby lake. It is so peaceful, and is my spiritual reflection time. The rest of the afternoon will be filled with spending time with my family, my husband, my pekingese, a kitten, and a cat. We may watch some movies and have a few drinks. Weekends are way too short......

Open eyes - Welcome to ExChristian.net, neighbor! I live in Lake Worth. On sunday mornings, I go and have breakfast at a restaurant with a friend (10 year tradition) then I go grocery shopping. My friend is still into the church thing, but she's very liberal, a pagan at heart. I just got back from the store. It was getting crazy packed with people and I knew to keep my sanity I would have to hurry. Now I am back home with my 4 month old kitten purring in my lap. Life is good without church! You are right, weekends are always way too short. Short work week ahead and I am grateful.

With my pack rat instincts I need a bucket-chute and a skip.

Junk food, getting stoned and watching TV on the internet.

Beats Mass any day.

I did what I do every Sunday since I stopped going to church.. I sleep until 11:30 (for some reason I can never go later), have a bowl of soup (I'm too lazy to cook any breakfasty-things, so it's canned goods for me!), and then I plopped down and watched the first round of NFL games. Sunday is my only day to myself, since my fiancee and I are usually busy the rest of the week, so I enjoy it a lot.

It definitely beats getting up in the way-AM for church.

This week I hung out with my seven twitterbugs in my little 2 bedroom apartment. We got up late, had cereal for breakfast, and the kids played on the computers and I showed them how to fly a 737 on Flightgear. Then we watched TV, my step-daughter had a blowout over religion with my oldest sons (go figure) and I spent the next hour talking with her and my oldest daughter about not allowing others to emotionally control you with their grandstanding to make you feel inferior.

Now the girls are on the other computer and the boys are watching Mythbusters on the DVR.

At 3 my youngest three and my stepdaughter go back to their Mom's and then I prepare to take the oldest three back to PA to their Mom.

It's been quite a hectic, but fun weekend!

We're having my folks over today. So I'm taking a break at the moment while spouse is cleaning dishes. In a few minutes I'll be getting up to do a bit of spot cleaning as well. Then my crazy fucking parents come over, drop off a sewing machine, and we'll go have lunch.

I might have to take them out for sushi. :wicked:

So I got up this morning, worked on my recently finished rough draft of an autobiography (which I did for the NaNoWriMo competition) and then futzed around on the internet.

Then I measured the alcohol content of my kit wines that are fermenting.

Then I decided to do a test, based on a conversation with the wife.

So I had a vodka and diet coke at 9:00am! Woo-hoo!

Best Sunday ever!

I am going to sit around and watch the 2nd season of "The Wire" today. I am also going ot call my Mom and step-dad and let them know of my little "run in" with the police before they hear about it from someone else.

Apparently, 4 adults riding around at 12 a.m. shooting fireworks out of a car window while being completely sober is frowned upon..

lol.

--how we got caught--?

Just happened to light a firework as a cop rolled around the corner.. Didnt want to throw it out and have him see it so ...I shoved it under my leg. DUMB IDEA. The cop saw the flash in the car and pulled us over.

So now, I have a huge hole in my jeans and a big bloody black spot on my thigh.. They let us go though. I think they thought it was funny

But damn did I have fun last night!! lol

This Sunday I slept in till 11:45 -- A particularly nice treat this week, as I was suffering from acute and severe NaNoWriMo-induced sleep deprivation.

(BTW, I won NaNo again this year.) :woohoo:

Made breakfast, shovelled snow, went to karate, picked up a few groceries.

Then I went down into the basement and, over the course of an hour, created about ten pounds of miscellaneous plywood chunks with my hand-held circular saw and chop saw.

And finally began to re-level the floor in my study. Eight square feet down, 132 to go....

Oops...guess it's officially Monday now, but *yesterday* I got up at 11 (I hardly sleep lately, so I actually need the sleep-in time). Had a good brunch, showered, shaved, relaxed. Went to start my car...oops...forgot to hit the "mode" button the final time so my timer for the block-heater didn't kick in. Not enough juice in the batt. to turn over the frozen engine in -20C weather. POS van wouldn't start either so I yanked its batt. and hooked both up to the car to get it running.

Picked up my little girl an hour late due to the non-starting car, but we had a really wonderful time together today. Drew pictures, watched a movie, played games, then made up this big long game where we were hunting rogue robots around the apartment. :D

Took her home, exercised while I watched Chronicles of Riddick (for the 7th time)...

I need to get to bed I guess...back to the grind in the morning.

Well I haven't been to church in a while anyway, but I do enjoy sleeping in on a sunday morning. At least until the formula one season starts again, then sundays are all about the fast cars for me

I slept in today (9:00 AM is sleeping in for me!). I'll probably >gasp< work more on some software today and then just relax, wait for the snowstorm and hope my phone doesn't ring (I'm on call). I have no kids this weekend, so all is quiet here.

Woke up 10 minutes ago (at 10:10 AM) and at some point will study for finals.

I LOVE being able to wake up when I wish on the weekends.

Got up at 6:00am - no surprise there, the wee dark hours are for getting things done!

Since then I determined that the Mac client for Mozy will take too long to get out of Beta and work correctly, so I thoroughly researched backups and settled on JungleDisk.com which uses Amazon's S3 service. Once I get it installed on my wife's PC's our monthly cost will drop from $15 to maybe $3/month and our backups will be mirrored all over the inkernet. Tres cool.

It is rainy and cold here in Texas - just dropped below 40.

9:50 right now. Got up 50 minutes ago. Had oatmeal and my morning orange juice (addicted to the stuff since the hormones were fixed...???). I will being picking up Abby at 2:00 and I have nothing planned...not much to do around here in winter. I'll have to buy both of us some skates perhaps.

I am going to celebrate this great day by going to see "The Golden Compass."

The reviews I have read so far do not look great. Seems all the good parts have been cut out for money's sake.

Oh well. Ill go watch it and then spend some money at the mall. I love Christmas shopping because I end up buying myself stuff instead of stuff for others. What a wonderful holiday!

Got up at about 9 am, showered, went over to my parent's house for dinner, and did laundry at their place to save money. We had stew.

Something a little bit different today...

Got up at *gasp!* twenty after nine. My brother's been visiting, and today we made bacon & eggs before driving him to the airport to catch the flight home.

And we didn't have karate today, either... No Sunday classes till January.

We did, however, stop at Tim Horton's for coffee after seeing my brother off. Then we did some window-shopping at the mall till the stores opened up at noon; bought cat food; bought some caulk and weatherstripping for the back door. (We've been having an early cold snap here. Current temperature is -19C with a bit of wind, making it feel like -28C. And this is an improvement over the last few days.)

All in all, I spent about four hours insulating the back of the kitchen and doing odd jobs on the main floor. A member of my writing group dropped in partway through, and we had another coffee break with brownies and chocolates. At 8:30 I finally called it quits. The back of the main floor and the front porch are both considerably warmer; there are seven new coat hooks installed near the front door; and three doors are decidedly more air-tight.

All in all, a rather productive day.

Astreja, ahhh Tim Hortons. I love Timmy Ho's chicken noodle soup. And I don't drink coffee but their hot cocoa is to die for. I buy the mix and make it at home too. Speaking of that, I ran out yesterday and here I am stuck in a snowstorm.

Anyway.... Today I am sitting at home, staying warm in my apartment, enjoying my kids, getting some work done, making homemade beef soup, and riding out the storm. Once in a while I glance at the latest closings and giggle to myself at how many churches are closed today.

Unfortunately I am not going to make it to my sister's house today as I had planned. It's too dangerous to drive, even with my four wheel drive Jeep.

We are also snowed in. All the kids practices have been canceled and my other son's work decided not even to bother open today. The wind is awful and the snow is piling up.

We're going to watch the Pats game and hope we don't lose power. :-)

  • 2 weeks later...

Kitchmas is over, guests have fled to their homes. I'll be spending my Sundays with a tumbler of 12 year old scotch until Spring, and at that time I will exchange it for a clean tumbler of 12 year old scotch!

Yay! Sunday again... a day for peace, tranquility, reflection and beating the living crap out of Orcs and Goblins.

<-- Goes back to LOTR:O

Hmm... maybe I'll look at some porn first, then go on a homicidal rampage with my Gay Alter-Ego and her Lesbian Lovers, before sitting down for Dinner with Satan and his Demons... I believe roast abortions are on the menu today.

Hey, that's what the e-mail I got this morning says Atheists do, so I'd better get to it... ;)
